Today has been a difficult day for many and one that most of us never really thought was coming. I suppose it’s fitting that I had planned on doing a post talking about wellness and self-care and specifically how I’ve been using certain essential oils to keep my spirits up and my body healthy.

Yesterday I was full of nerves and anxious most of the day and completely unable to focus. Early this morning (yes, I stayed up until 2am) the unthinkable happened and since then, Mr. C and I have been trying to figure out what our next steps are and what our plans for the future are.

I apologize, as my thoughts are a bit more scattered than usual. In the meantime, I will leave you with a short post about what I’ve been using and why as well as let you know that Rocky Mountain Oils is having 20% off their Wellness Collection essential oils (which includes these products) from today, November 9th to November 13th, 2016.

The Best Essential Oils for Colds and Flu

Deep Breathe:

Ingredients: Ravintsara, Rosemary, Pine, and Lime

This blend is one that I use almost every morning in the shower. I like dropping some onto a small hand towel and allowing it to mix with the steam from the water and really opening up my air ways. If I’m feeling particularly congested, I’ll mix a few drops of it with a carrier oil and rub some of it on my chest to help with breaking up mucus!

Immune Strength:

Ingredients: Clove Bud, Cinnamon Bark, Lemon, Orange, Oregano, Mandarin, Thyme, Rosemary, Nutmeg, Ginger Root, & Eucalyptus citriodora

Yup, this is a spicy one! Containing lots of “hot” oils, the scent really reminds me of holiday baking and so, if nothing else, I simply love diffusing it around the house. I’ve found it really helps wake my mind back up- especially if I’ve been feeling down or in a bit of a haze but it can also be helpful in supporting the immune system and loosening mucus.

Flu Time:

Ingredients: Frankincense, Peppermint, Spearmint, Cinnamon Leaf, Lime, Ginger Root, & Lavender in Fractionated Coconut Oil

While this does contain some spicy oils, it also has several calming oils, like frankincense and lavender and gives off a slightly minty scent. It’s the most relaxing of the three oils and often helps to calm down and put my mind at ease a bit.
